Wisdom comes in all sizes and you’re never alone on your journey of fitness.

I gotta give a shout out to Matt Garwood, a friend and fellow Beachbody lover who has a pretty awesome blog up that can be found here – [http://anysizefitness.com] Matt, much like myself undertook the journey of changing his life around through the power of P90x. Check out his story and pictures here – [http://anysizefitness.com/testimonials/matts-story/]  It is one thing to be a few pounds over weight, but when you break the barriers and go to 260lbs, 300lbs and even beyond (like my eventual starting weight of 440lbs) you really have to dig deep down inside of yourself and pull forth some tremdenous strength to acknowledge that you not only need the change but have to be ready to actually commit to it and succeed. So many people fall off of a diet within a few days, maybe even a few weeks, and these are people that barely have anything to lose. (Any weight loss is good weight lose, so bare with me when I say “barely”) But when you NEED to move 50lbs or 100lbs or 200lbs, it can feel like a never ending struggle. Once the results start rolling in its easier to keep with it but you are fighting your body…

Taking a moment to pat yourself on the back

IF you’re anything like me.. you have a tendency to criticise yourself over your performance. Be it how well you did in your workout, how much weight you lost, if you could have did this better or that.. or just something. Sometimes we do need that voice to push us to do more each time we go out to accomplish something but we sometimes lose that voice that should be congratulating us for the job we did do. When it comes to losing weight, its easy to get disappointed because you didn’t lose the 5lbs that you wanted to lose. But if you still lost something that day, week or month.. take a moment and enjoy that. You made progress. It wasn’t what you expected or what you thought you needed but you moved forward. Take that for what it is. A step forward. You did something, when you could have been doing absolutely nothing, you got a result (Even if its not THE result you wanted) and it was a positive one at that. This puts you ahead of the curve because you’re doing something, insted of nothing. Like Jeff Olson say’s in his hit book “The Slight Edge“, …

Predator Fitness – Week 1 of Shaun T’s Insanity: The Asylum.

This would make day 5 on The Asylum calendar. A much needed rest day before I get my ass handed to me again by Shaun T. The man clearly intends for you to kill yourself while doing this workout and if you’re not prepared to bring that kind of dedication you may want to look at something easier because this workout is no joke and Shaun T is NOT playing with you. His words. I am already down 9lbs and about 3-4 inches off my waistline since starting on Saturday, this is with being “decent” with my eating. Something I intend to tighten up within the 2nd week of The Asylum. Its been a tough week, my body is sore from head to toe and the thought of doing absolutely nothing seems like the best idea ever. Sadly for me, this is still week 1, and this program is 30 days of pure hell. On the brightside I have a accountability partner and someone who is going through this at the same time, we’re holding each other up and keeping the other motivated. So I owe a big thanks to my friend Vanessa, although I will admit I do blame her…
