<p>Welcome to another glorious Motivational Monday. Most people hate Monday because it&#8217;s the start of another week of work, likely at a &#8220;Job&#8221; they really hate and wish they were out of but they haven&#8217;t quite found their jump to something they truly enjoy. For me Monday is just a day I choose to use as a restart of positive influence. I mean I could waste time thinking; &#8220;Oh, it&#8217;s Monday. I HATE MONDAY&#8217;S&#8221; in a Garfield like voice but that&#8217;s not going to do anything for me except start a negative thought pattern for my week. Instead I like to think; &#8220;Oh, It&#8217;s Monday! If I didn&#8217;t do so great on my training, on a hobby or feel like I improved myself as a person during last week, I get a whole &#8220;new&#8221; week to get it right&#8221;. It&#8217;s like the movie <a title="Bill Murray reliving the same day until he get's it just right" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groundhog_Day_(film)" target="_blank">Groundhog day</a>.</p>
<p>Which is a great movie if you haven&#8217;t seen it, and also something I noticed my accountability partner Vanessa mentioning in a few of her Facebook postings. Sometimes a day is bad and you want to restart it, sometimes a day is great and you want to relive it. The main thing is to not get hung up on bad days and let one bad day, become a life time of bad days. That&#8217;s why I have Motivational Monday&#8217;s.  Monday is my reset day if the week didn&#8217;t turn out how I wanted and If it did turn out great then I try to make the next week even better! Sometime&#8217;s it helps to have someone there when you&#8217;re pursuing a goal or dream and you have set backs or need someone to refuel you and remind you what you&#8217;re trying to do and that&#8217;s why you need an accountability partner!</p>

<p>There are many thing&#8217;s to love about an accountability partner. They ride your ass when you start slipping off your track with your eating and your training, they are always there for you when you need someone to reinforce what you&#8217;re trying to accomplish in a positive motivating way and their unique personality is just the outside influence you need to keep with whatever it is you are doing. So often we get trapped in isolation thinking we are on our own (and unless you&#8217;ve purposely alienated yourself) when we aren&#8217;t and can find someone to be their for a specific goal if we just ask them. However, if you don&#8217;t ask anyone, you will be on your own. Sometime&#8217;s it can take some work finding the right accountability partner, you need someone you can depend on and someone that isn&#8217;t afraid to call you on your bullshit excuses! The main thing to remember when you have an accountability partner is to <strong>BE HONEST WITH THEM</strong>. This is just like a relationship, you need to be honest with your accountability partner or they can&#8217;t completely help you. This goes double if you don&#8217;t see them everyday and they aren&#8217;t watching you go through your struggles to achieve your goal.</p>
<p>So here are just a few things to look for in a future accountability partner</p>
<blockquote><p>-They motivate you to do your best</p>
<p>-Calls you on your bullshit / No sugar coating and is Honest with you</p>
<p>-Sets goals with you /Challenges you to competitions to keep you both actively involved</p>
<p>-RELIABLE PERSON! If you set a check in date, weekly, monthly, whatever. They NEED to check in with you. Someone persistently nagging you helps.</p>
<p>-High desire to see results in both of you! It help&#8217;s if the person is going in the same direction as you.</p></blockquote>

<p>The great thing about an accountability partner is how many you can have! You can have multiple accountability partner&#8217;s which is great for group synergy. For example people that get one of my <a title="Get a workout, Shakeology and SUPPORT!" href="http://bit.ly/PredChallengePacks" target="_blank">Challenge Pack</a>s like to work together if they&#8217;re on the same program because they can start at the same time and converse about what they found that helped get them through a workout or just how much it kicked their ass. While they still get help from myself, so there are a lot of support influences driving towards success. Accountability Partner&#8217;s aren&#8217;t limited to just fitness, it works for business aspects, hobbies, you name it, you can have a partner for it. It&#8217;s always more fun to work in pairs in my opinion! So I highly recommend you find one!</p>

<div>Let&#8217;s go down the Check list!</div>

<p><strong>- Weighed self</strong></p>
<p><strong>- Got several body fat % estimate from calipers or Dexa scan / Bodpod (other costly methods, etc)</strong></p>
<p><strong>- Took Serious / Silly &#8220;Before&#8221; pictures in good lighting</strong></p>
<p><strong>- Measured several portions of the body</p>
<p></strong><strong> </strong><strong> </strong><strong>- Wrote everything down in preparation for day 30, 60, 90, etc.</strong></p>
<p>Before I get to when/how often you should weigh yourself let me go over the importance of your &#8220;Before&#8221; pictures and the measurements you just got through writing down. The reason you want these &#8220;Before&#8221; pictures is so you will have visible proof because beside&#8217;s the mirror and no matter how much you flex at it you can&#8217;t see side-by-side changes with your own eyes as you can in a picture. You see yourself every day so you will always see the gradual change and there is no better proof than a picture it even gives you something to share with your friends and family later.</p>
<p>The reason you want to get your measurement&#8217;s as well as body fat % links in with the obsession with the weight on the scale. You want your measurements so you can see where you&#8217;ve lost/ are losing inches from your body and if it&#8217;s actually fat and not muscle also if and when the scale &#8220;stops&#8221; and your weight stays the same while you&#8217;re trying to lose fat or if you&#8217;re packing on muscle and want to measure your muscle gains.</p>
<p>Using the scale to weigh yourself is great but can equally destructive on your self esteem if you tend to get disheartened because your weight went up by a pound a day after your last measurement. The body changes constantly which is why you need to make a ritual out of when and how you check your weight. If you just started a program, checking your weight every day the first week can help you ensure you&#8217;re on the right path but don&#8217;t be surprised if you don&#8217;t see anything right away as your body gets thrown into shock by the sudden change in activity levels and diet. Depending on your size you could immediately drop several pounds within the first week. My first week of <strong><a href="http://predator.teamsuperhero.com/workouts/power-90" target="_blank">Power 90</a></strong> I dropped 17lbs, half-assing the workout of course because I was around 440lbs but that was rewarding because I was doing my best.</p>

<p>I personally prefer checking my weight on a Sunday, that&#8217;s where I officially write down the changes for the week because it&#8217;s my rest day. I like to save body measurements /body fat % measurement to once a month, along with taking the next set of pictures. The only time I will obsessively watch the scale is when I am trying a new diet and I want to see how my body will react, in my case I know I am highly sensitive to certain carbs and I have to watch the intake and changes to my body.</p>
<p><strong>- Pick a day for weekly weight &#8220;Check-in&#8221;</strong></p>
<p><strong>- Keep taking pictures!! Even if you don&#8217;t think you see a change right away, what you see in day 30 can be different than what you see on day 90</strong></p>
<p><strong>-Don&#8217;t forget to write down the monthly changes in weight, inches and body fat.</strong></p>
<p><strong>- Use the free tools on the internet!! like <a title="Free Member Signup" href="hthttp://teambeachbody.com/signup?referringRepId=8341" target="_blank">Team Beachbody</a> (Free signup, you get me as your Coach as well!)  or <a href="http://www.myfitnesspal.com/" target="_blank">MyFitnesspal</a> which have calorie counters, meal planners and community support!</strong></p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ever taken a good look at your plates or cups or even your bowls? Notice a scary trend as you go through the shelf and you might see that they are all <strong>VERY</strong> large in size. When you think about it, more often than not you go to grab a cup of your favorite drink and here you are sipping away at a &#8220;<strong>Cup</strong>&#8221; that may be <strong>Supersized</strong> by how much it actually holds. Easist way to see if you have a &#8220;<strong>Cup</strong>&#8221; that isn&#8217;t really an actual 8FL oz container is to break out the measuring cup and get to the bottom of it.</p>
<p><em><strong>Otherwise all those extra liquids are going to be literally getting your bottom bigger.</strong></em></p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-980" title="Supersized" src="http://predator.teamsuperhero.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Supersized-176x300.jpg" alt="" width="176" height="300" /></p>
<p>If you find you just stuck <em>3 measured cups</em> of water into your &#8220;<strong>Cup</strong>&#8221; you just found one of the many<em> weight gaining traps </em>out there and I suggest you go buy new smaller cups that are labled with their approximate size or get some disposable cups, whatever it is you use. It&#8217;s very important to watch out for traps like these even when it comes to sipping on something like a <strong><em>Gatorade </em></strong>which was made for Athletes. Although almost anyone will drink it and which also comes in a variety of sizes and they all don&#8217;t have the same nutrition profile, most of those large containers are up to 4 servings and a serving size might be 50 calories and around 15 grams of carbs/sugar but if you just drank 4 servings / the entire container in one setting.</p>
<p><strong>That&#8217;s 200 calories  and 60 grams of carbs right there!!</strong></p>
<p>Even when it comes to things you might have in the fridge, you always want to be mindful of the serving size and just how much you are actually drinking. If you&#8217;re drinking a &#8220;<strong>cup&#8221; </strong>of something that has a serving size of 1/2 a cup, you just drank two servings. Possibly more if you have an <strong>Supersized</strong> cup.</p>
<p>The main reason I say to be mindful of the serving size with whatever it is you&#8217;re drinking is because it&#8217;s a lot easier to consume a liquid than it is a solid food, you can drink something without really thinking about in the same fashion you would if you had a large bag of popcorn and you were watching a movie.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sadly.. this also carries over to our <strong><em>Supersized </em></strong>bowls and plates. Sure, you might need that large plate when you&#8217;re serving several people but when you&#8217;re trying to cut back your portions, filling that entire thing isn&#8217;t helping you one bit. Grabbing a bowl of Cereal? Think again, as you could hit another serving size trap along with the supersized bowl, this destructive combo can be costly. Not all Cereals are equal, even if it&#8217;s a cereal that is healthy for you. I&#8217;ll say it again, &#8220;<strong>SERVING SIZE</strong>&#8221; pay attention to it. I have seen cereals that range from ½ a cup upto 1 cup and 1/4th for a serving. Now this can be a costly mistake because Cereal, tasty as it is, is already a moderate amount of carbs and calories per serving.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s go with a old favorite! <em><strong>Cap&#8217;n Crunch &#8220;Crunch Berries&#8221;</strong></em>. 3/4th&#8217;s a cup a serving at 110 calories, 22g carbs.  Assuming the bowl is average in size and you decide to fill it up with at least 2 servings, that&#8217;s 220 calories and 44 grams of carbs <strong>BEFORE</strong> you add milk. Gotta have enough milk to make sure it goes down right? Assuming it also requires 2 cups of milk to comfortably fill the bowl, with something like skim milk at 90 calories a serving and about 12grams of carbs. that&#8217;s a extra 180 calories and 24 grams of carbs giving us <strong>a combine total for this one breakfast(lunch? dinner? midnight snack?) 400 calories and 68g  carbs. </strong></p>
<p>That&#8217;s assuming everything was measured precisely. So it could be more or less but I bet it&#8217;s not what you want to ensure you&#8217;re losing weight if you&#8217;re on a diet.</p>
<p>Those were just a few examples, I don&#8217;t even want to go into what could happen with that supersized plate but I urge you to take a look at your dishes and decide for yourself if you need to get rid of them and buy some new ones.</p>

For the things you didn&#8217;t get or didn&#8217;t work towards because you assumed you wouldn&#8217;t get it anyway before you even started? While it is true that we will run into complete assholes in our lives, that may in fact do you wrong; it is still up to us on how we act and respond to it. 		<description><![CDATA[<p>It&#8217;s now 2012! In 2011 I had set out quite a few goals, some that I met, some that I was no where close to completing, like being in shape for the Beachbody Body Challenge. Top it off just after thanksgiving, I get a fever that lead to a (open wound warning) forearm injury  / almost 3 inch gash/scar that now has me unable to lift weights and missing some feeling in my index and thumb fingers. Talk about being beyound frustrated! December was a month of not working out for safey reasons. It is January now and I am dying to jump back into it, now that the swelling in my hand/forearm has decreased greatly since the accident. With the start of the new year and fitness goals that I want to meet, I must pace myself and now I must really come to love doing cardio because until my arm is healed, weight lifting is out of the question. I will no doubt have to rehab my forearm before I can throw it back into 35lb forearm curls or even think about doing a pushup. Maybe squats are about to become my new fitness weapon? It should be an interesting year.</p>
<p>A lot of people get injured, or get a sickness or sometthing that holds them back and they completely give up fitness and go back to a mediocre life style and put on 50lbs, lose their dreams and hopes in the process. I am definately not going to be one of those people. I have some powerful influnces holding me up, my wonderful family and friends within the Beachbody fitness community! My dear friend Wendy, hurt her elbow over a year ago, despite the pains, she still goes after each workout, she might have to gog lighter weights some days but her persistance to get results is astounding. My friend and <a href="http://predator.teamsuperhero.com/workouts/shaun-ts-insanity-the-asylum/" target="_blank">Asylum </a>workout partner, Vanessa, recently got through stage 1 cervical cancer and is back to crushing her workouts. She didn&#8217;t let it change her, she stepped her game up and is headed back for her results. These women are strong! Strength is sexy, remember that, strength isn&#8217;t just the power to lift something but the will of the heart and the mind. True strength is a combination.</p>
<p>I havent worked out the finer details for how I am going to get from here to there but I can say I am ready to start kicking my ass back into what I was before and no accident will keep me from that, no person, nothing!</p>
<p>My tools for recovery thus far have been a mixture of the <a href="http://predator.teamsuperhero.com/supplements/p90x-results-and-recovery-formula/" target="_blank">P90x Recovery drink</a> and chocolate <a href="http://predator.teamsuperhero.com/supplements/shakeology-2/" target="_blank">Shakeology</a> and rest. Lots of rest. Going to start it off today hopefully, with some light cardio and yoga/stretching, whatever I am capable of doing without messing up my arm.</p>
<p>Bring it on 2012.</p>
<p>Let the world end, I&#8217;ll learn how to breathe in the vacuum of space to survive because I can adapt to everything. The hunt has started again.</p>

<p>I am a big fan of the Michael Jordan ad&#8217;s, he has put out a ton and they&#8217;re all very motivational and very true. This one reminds me of how there are people in life that want to tear you down because they are afraid of what you will become when you unleash your ability and reach for your goals. You can&#8217;t let them stop you.<br />

		<description><![CDATA[<p>C&#8217;mon, we all love our hulking Biceps but if you really want your arms to grow and you want better looking arms overall you can&#8217;t overlook the ever important Triceps muscle. The Triceps Brachii muscle makes up almost 2/3rds of your arm&#8217;s muscle mass! Go ahead and shake your head in shame as you&#8217;ve probably been curling 60lbs for numerous sets in an attempt to make your arms look bigger but never fear! I will give you a few of my favorite triceps exercises you can add onto your workout routine. Warning: Do NOT go use heavy weights your first time attempting any exercise. Always exercise caution when attempting any new exercise and always start with lighter weights until you&#8217;re comfortable with the motion and you have proper form. I have to quote Shaun T on this one but &#8220;Form over Speed&#8221; if you want to properly work any muscle, you have to USE the muscle and not cheat yourself through reps by using momentum. I like to do 1 set of each exercise, with little to no break inbetween the sets. So, Overhead extensions, Dips, Pushups, THEN I take a 15-30 second rest. There are several options to increase or decrease intensity while doing any form of Superset but sometimes I start off heavy with a low number of reps and as I finish a round I go to moderate weights and do more reps and finish out with lighter weights and higher reps. Or sometimes I do it in reverse, there are a number of ways and that&#8217;s why lifting is so much fun. Get creative! Now onto my workouts</p>
<p><strong>Seated or Standing One-Arm Overhead Triceps Extension &#8211; 3 sets for 8 to 12 reps</strong></p>
<p><strong>Chair/Bench Dips &#8211; 3 sets for 15 reps</strong></p>
<p><strong>Triceps Pushup/Sphinx Pushups - 3 sets for 10-15 reps</strong></p>

<p>There are plenty of Tricep exercises you could add to your workout routine, these are just a few I like the most at the moment as they bring the burn the quickest to my triceps. <p>It is one thing to be a few pounds over weight, but when you break the barriers and go to 260lbs, 300lbs and even beyond (like my eventual starting weight of 440lbs) you really have to dig deep down inside of yourself and pull forth some tremdenous strength to acknowledge that you not only need the change but have to be ready to actually commit to it and succeed.</p>
<p>So many people fall off of a diet within a few days, maybe even a few weeks, and these are people that barely have anything to lose. (Any weight loss is good weight lose, so bare with me when I say &#8220;barely&#8221;) But when you NEED to move 50lbs or 100lbs or 200lbs, it can feel like a never ending struggle. Once the results start rolling in its easier to keep with it but you are fighting your body every step of the way, fighting every bad habit you&#8217;ve built over the years, pushing through workouts that leave your body sore for days and doing things you never thought you were capable of doing.</p>
<p>Sometimes a little word or a piece of advice can carry you through challenges you never believed you were capable of doing, I have the honor of being mentioned on Matt&#8217;s wall <strong>&#8220;</strong><a href="http://anysizefitness.com/bigz-wisdom/">BiGZ Wisdom</a><strong>&#8220;  </strong>which will grow with more inspiring quotes throughout the years, so keep an eye on that page for updates!</p>
<p>If there is one thing I can say about the long journey I have had it&#8217;s when you dare to change your life the rewards are infinate.</p>

If you want strength, SLEEP. Sometimes they even get enough sleep but they aren&#8217;t getting deep REM sleep.</li>
<li> Not enough sleep can increase cortisol levels in the body. Cortisol while helpful in several ways to the body can become bad when the levels are increased and can actually increase fat gain around the mid section and the rest of the body. Cortisol levels can also be raised through stressing out, so keep that in mind as well. Try smiling or laughing just because you can to reduce stress.</li>
<li>Being on a consistent sleep schedule makes it easier to plan and execute your daily routine. If you&#8217;re always running late or always feeling like you never have enough time in your day, chances are you&#8217;re  not sleeping enough and taking a lot of naps throughout the day to make up for it. When you&#8217;re use to waking up at the same time each day your body will naturally start waking up around this time and you just might be able to get rid of your alarm clock.</li>
</ol>

have trouble controlling your emotions?<br />
feel like you have to take a nap almost every day?<br />
require caffeinated beverages to keep yourself going?</li>

Be it how well you did in your workout, how much weight you lost, if you could have did this better or that.. or just something. Sometimes we do need that voice to push us to do more each time we go out to accomplish something but we sometimes lose that voice that should be congratulating us for the job we did do. When it comes to losing weight, its easy to get disappointed because you didn&#8217;t lose the 5lbs that you wanted to lose. But if you still lost something that day, week or month.. take a moment and enjoy that. You made progress. It wasn&#8217;t what you expected or what you thought you needed but you moved forward. Take that for what it is. A step forward. You did something, when you could have been doing absolutely nothing, you got a result (Even if its not THE result you wanted) and it was a positive one at that. This puts you ahead of the curve because you&#8217;re doing something, insted of nothing.
