Predator Fitness – Taking measurements and pictures and when to weigh yourself

I get asked “When should I weigh myself?” or “How often should I weigh myself?” and “Do I really need to take before pictures and measurement?”. This important piece of information can literally drive people up the wall. Regardless of how well your diet and exercise might be going it is still very easy to become obsessed with the number on that devil device known as “The Scale“, “you lying piece of shit!“, “What do you mean GET OFF!?”. So I am going to give you a few of my quick and easy to follow rules on when to weigh yourself, and how often you should weigh yourself and even why you should be taking pictures and getting measurements across your entire body. The first thing you should do before you start any new program/routine is to weigh yourself first thing in the morning, preferably not after you’ve been binge-drinking or eating the night before! Get someone to take pictures, front, back, side while being RELAXED, don’t suck it in if you really want to see your improvements in the future. Hell, you could even throw in a few Superhero or Movie like poses if you want. Personal favorite’s include standing…

Predator Fitness – Road to Recovery

It’s now 2012! In 2011 I had set out quite a few goals, some that I met, some that I was no where close to completing, like being in shape for the Beachbody Body Challenge. Top it off just after thanksgiving, I get a fever that lead to a (open wound warning) forearm injury  / almost 3 inch gash/scar that now has me unable to lift weights and missing some feeling in my index and thumb fingers. Talk about being beyound frustrated! December was a month of not working out for safey reasons. It is January now and I am dying to jump back into it, now that the swelling in my hand/forearm has decreased greatly since the accident. With the start of the new year and fitness goals that I want to meet, I must pace myself and now I must really come to love doing cardio because until my arm is healed, weight lifting is out of the question. I will no doubt have to rehab my forearm before I can throw it back into 35lb forearm curls or even think about doing a pushup. I’ll likely need to use pushup/power stands for pushups, since my hand isn’t capable of flexing in its full…

Want your arms to look bigger? Target the Triceps muscle!

C’mon, we all love our hulking Biceps but if you really want your arms to grow and you want better looking arms overall you can’t overlook the ever important Triceps muscle. The Triceps Brachii muscle makes up almost 2/3rds of your arm’s muscle mass! Go ahead and shake your head in shame as you’ve probably been curling 60lbs for numerous sets in an attempt to make your arms look bigger but never fear! I will give you a few of my favorite triceps exercises you can add onto your workout routine. Warning: Do NOT go use heavy weights your first time attempting any exercise. Always exercise caution when attempting any new exercise and always start with lighter weights until you’re comfortable with the motion and you have proper form. I have to quote Shaun T on this one but “Form over Speed” if you want to properly work any muscle, you have to USE the muscle and not cheat yourself through reps by using momentum. I like to do 1 set of each exercise, with little to no break inbetween the sets. So, Overhead extensions, Dips, Pushups, THEN I take a 15-30 second rest. This is my method of doing Supersets to help growth…
